THE TRIO
When the three musicians – Lionel Andrey, Sebastian Braun and Benedek Horváth – joined forces to create Trio Eclipse, they thought of the colours and hues made possible by instruments from three different families: wind, string and keyboard. The instruments thus form an analogy to the alignment and interaction of three spherical objects in mutual array. The three musicians, all prizewinners at national and international solo competitions, have long devoted themselves to chamber music, and Trio Eclipse quickly coalesced into a homogenous ensemble. Spontaneity and personal vision are no less important to them than the perfect balance between the liberties of solo playing and the unity of their performance. Besides its début at Lucerne Festival in summer 2019, the trio has appeared regularly at festivals and in concert series, including the Label Suisse Festival and the Swiss Chamber Music Festival in Adelboden, and on such radio broadcasts as SRF Kultur, Espace 2 and France Musique. Their concert tours have also taken them abroad, not only to parts of Europe and the USA, but to such exotic lands as Jordan, where they played in the country’s major concert halls and worked together with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, which gives refugee children an opportunity to come into contact with different forms of culture. Trio Eclipse has received awards at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan, the Migros Kulturprozent Chamber Music Competition and the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition.
The pianist Francesco Granata joined the group in 2024.
